Hayward, CA (September 21, 2025) – On Thursday afternoon, emergency services were called to the scene of a two-car accident on Interstate 880, which resulted in at least one individual sustaining injuries that necessitated hospitalization. The incident took place at approximately 1:47 p.m. on the southbound lane of I-880 close to the junction with Interstate 238, a heavily trafficked link often utilized by both commuters and commercial vehicles. Units from the California Highway Patrol along with emergency medical services quickly arrived at the site. Responders from Hayward Fire and Rescue provided aid to individuals who were injured in the accident. At least one person was taken to a nearby hospital for care. The victim’s condition remains undisclosed, and the identities of those involved are also unknown. Officials have not verified the circumstances that led to the accident, and no factors contributing to it have been revealed. Traffic in the vicinity faced short-term disruptions as teams worked to manage the scene and initiate an investigation. The CHP is still looking into the reasons behind the crash.
