Hacienda Heights, CA (March 13, 2026) – One person sustained major injuries in a multi-vehicle collision on Thursday morning, March 12, on eastbound State Route 60 just west of the Hacienda Blvd off-ramp in Hacienda Heights. Emergency responders were sent to the scene around 8:34 a.m. Following reports of a multi-vehicle chain-reaction crash, which included a white work truck that hit the center divider. Officials subsequently verified that as many as six vehicles were involved, and a semi-truck may have played a role in the incident. One vehicle was also left facing the wrong direction on the right shoulder. Authorities reported at least one person seriously injured, but released no details on identities or the total number of people hurt. The crash led to significant traffic backups, with all lanes temporarily shut down for around 45 minutes as crews helped victims and cleared the area. Officials are still probing the cause, and additional information will be shared once it’s available. We are thinking of those injured as they receive medical care. How Multi-Vehicle Crashes on Busy Freeways Often Occur. Chain-reaction crashes on highways frequently begin when a single vehicle abruptly slows down, stops, or switches lanes. Drivers behind might not have sufficient time to stop, particularly in congested traffic. Large vehicles such as semi-trucks can intensify these crashes due to their size and weight.
