Fresno, CA (January 5, 2026) – A wrong-way crash on Highway 99 killed one man and injured two others Sunday afternoon in Fresno, the California Highway Patrol reported. The collision happened around 2:00 p.m. On January 4, in the southbound lanes of Highway 99 near Olive Avenue. According to authorities, a 58-year-old man in a Ford Ranger was driving northbound in the southbound lanes when he collided with two vehicles traveling in the proper direction. The crash left all three vehicles stopped in the roadway, obstructing two lanes of traffic. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and took all three drivers to Community Regional Medical Center. The Ford Ranger driver, whose name has not been released, died from his injuries at the hospital. The conditions of the other two drivers were not released, but both were taken to the hospital after the crash. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, including how the wrong-way driver ended up in the southbound lanes of the highway. We offer our deepest condolences to the family of the man who died, and we wish a full recovery to those who were injured.
