Sherman Oaks, CA (May 22, 2026) – A fire at an apartment building on the 14000 block of Dickens Street sent two people to the hospital and left several residents without a place to live Thursday morning. The blaze started at approximately 9 a.m. , located just south of Ventura Boulevard and east of Van Nuys Boulevard. When emergency crews arrived, they found heavy flames and thick smoke billowing from a second-floor unit. The fire extended into the living room and at least one other room, leaving behind scorched rubble and shattered windows. Seven homes were impacted, three of which were deemed uninhabitable. A 69-year-old woman was hospitalized and treated for suspected smoke inhalation; she was reported to be in moderate condition. A second individual was also hospitalized, though the initial report did not provide details on their injuries. Eight adults and one child were left without a place to stay. Two 16-year-old small dogs were saved from a locked facility. One dog received oxygen treatment at the scene. The cause of the fire is still unknown, and the investigation is ongoing. We hope both individuals injured in the blaze make a full and speedy recovery. What Happens After an Apartment Fire Displaces Residents in Los Angeles?
