A crash on the northbound 5 Freeway led to the death of Bulmaro Alvarez Chavez, 43183, late Saturday night, November 8, in the Newhall section of Santa Clarita. Officer Sergio Garcia from the California Highway Patrol stated that the incident was reported at approximately 11:10 p.m. on the northbound Golden State Freeway just above Templin Highway. An automobile plunged over a slope and flipped over, landing on its top. Emergency medical technicians arrived at the location but announced that Chavez had passed away due to several blunt-force wounds. Officials issued a SigAlert at 11:36 p.m. , shutting down multiple northbound lanes for several hours. All lanes were cleared and reopened by 4:45 a.m. On Sunday, the CHP reported that Alvarez’s family created a GoFundMe page to assist with funeral costs.
