(Boyle Heights, CA) A bicyclist was fatally struck early Thursday morning, January 29, by a vehicle that fled the scene at a busy neighborhood intersection in a Boyle Avenue crash. The Los Angeles Police Department reported officers were dispatched around 5:20 a.m. to the intersection of Boyle Avenue and Seventh Street in Boyle Heights following reports of a crash between a vehicle and a bicyclist. Upon arrival, officers discovered the rider unresponsive in the roadway. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived and declared the bicyclist dead at the scene. Authorities withheld the victim’s name, age, and gender initially, awaiting notification of next of kin. Police reported that early details showed the vehicle was heading south on Boyle Avenue prior to turning west onto Seventh Street. In that turn, the vehicle hit the bicyclist and kept going without stopping to offer assistance. Investigators have not disclosed a description of the vehicle or driver.
