Bakersfield, CA (September 26, 2025) – On Thursday morning, a motorcyclist sustained injuries in a hit-and-run incident that took place on the westbound lanes of State Route 58 at Mount Vernon Ave. The accident occurred at approximately 6:18 a.m. caused considerable disruption while emergency responders assessed the situation. Preliminary reports suggest that the motorcyclist veered to avoid a dark vehicle before crashing and landing on the road. A silver GMC Sierra pickup reportedly hit the rider and then left the area. Witnesses reported that the collision caused the motorcycle to end up in the lanes, obstructing traffic during peak morning hours. Emergency teams from Bakersfield arrived promptly, but initial updates from fire officials indicated they struggled to find the injured rider, leading to worries that the person might have departed the scene prior to assistance arriving. The status of the rider is still uncertain, but the incident has been categorized as a hit-and-run resulting in injuries. Officials have requested that the street bike be towed from the road. Authorities are currently examining statements from witnesses and details about the vehicles involved, particularly a license plate that resembles “792025X1,” to help find the driver who fled the scene after the accident. There were traffic slowdowns in the vicinity as teams attempted to remove the wreckage and locate those involved.
