(Los Angeles, CA) Earlier this month, a woman sustained severe injuries in a hit-and-run incident on Central Avenue, where two vehicles hit her while she was crossing the street close to downtown Los Angeles, as reported by officials. The Los Angeles Police Department stated that the accident happened at approximately 5:33 a.m. on October 5 at the crossroads of Central Avenue and 14th Place. Authorities reported that the woman was crossing the street when a dark-colored Ford Explorer from the model years 2018 to 2025, traveling south on Central, hit her. Consequently, the force caused her to fall to the ground. Shortly after, a blue Honda CR-V from the years 2007 to 2011 hit her again, but both drivers drove south without pausing. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived and transported the woman to a hospital, where she is currently in critical condition. Authorities have made public surveillance photos of the two cars involved and are asking anyone with knowledge to reach out to Officer Balderas at the LAPD’s Central Traffic Division by calling 213-833-3713. This is in relation to the hit-and-run incident on Central Avenue. Dual hit-and-run accidents represent some of the most tragic and damaging incidents involving pedestrians. This incident illustrates how the inability of several drivers to stop and assist can exacerbate the injuries of a victim. The main law applicable in situations like this is the Hit-and-Run Statute.
