A man was fatally hit on Sunday evening, November 23, in Fullerton, CA, while maneuvering a wheelchair across a crosswalk on Gilbert Street. The Fullerton Police Department reports that the accident happened at approximately 6:40 p.m. close to South Gilbert Street and West Orangethorpe Avenue. Authorities reported that the man was guiding a wheelchair northward within a designated crosswalk on the west side of the road. As he turned west onto Orangethorpe, a white Toyota Prius collided with him. Emergency medical services arrived to offer assistance and took the injured party to a nearby medical facility, where he eventually succumbed to his wounds. The driver of the Prius stayed at the location and assisted the investigators. Officials stated that it is uncertain if the man crossed while the “Don’t Walk” signal was on. Authorities do not think that drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident. The police are asking anyone with information about the event to reach out to Fullerton Police Traffic Investigator J.
