In Sacramento, CA, a collision between a pickup truck and a big rig on northbound Interstate 5 resulted in one fatality and injuries to another individual. The incident occurred on Saturday morning, September 13, at approximately 7:13 a.m. An accident took place on the northbound Interstate 43183. The California Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred on I-5, just north of Sutterville Road, in the Upper Land Park area. Investigators found out that a pickup truck had a tire blowout, rendering it unable to move on the road. A large truck towing two trailers crashed into the stationary truck from the rear, unable to stop in time to prevent the accident. Both cars ignited following the collision. Emergency services arrived promptly but were unable to save the driver of the pickup, who perished at the location. Paramedics took the truck driver to a local hospital, where he received treatment for minor injuries. The CHP has verified that alcohol and drugs were not factors in the accident on northbound Interstate 5.
