On October 29, 2025, a Los Angeles resident died in a collision involving three vehicles on the northbound Santa Ana (I-5) Freeway close to Sand Canyon Avenue, as reported by the California Highway Patrol. The accident took place at approximately 8:30 a.m. 26-year-old Irving Jose Orozco Gomez, driving an Infiniti, was reportedly speeding as he neared slowed traffic ahead. According to reports, Gomez collided with a Jeep, causing it to be forced into a Mazda SUV because of the strength of the hit. First responders rushed to the scene promptly, unfortunately, Gomez was declared deceased. The Jeep’s driver, on the other hand, sustained minor injuries and was sent to a close hospital for care. The Mazda driver was evaluated at the location and did not need additional medical attention. All northbound lanes were briefly closed after the accident, causing considerable traffic delays during the morning rush hour. About 20 minutes later, one lane was reopened to help reduce congestion while investigators examined the scene. The CHP is still looking into the incident, particularly the impact of speed and traffic conditions before the crash. We express our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Irving Jose Orozco Gomez and wish a speedy recovery to those who were injured.
