A student-athlete from Cal State Fullerton named Lauren Turner has passed away due to injuries she sustained in a car crash on Association Road, which happened over a month ago. Turner, a sophomore from Tustin and a part of the CSUF women’s soccer team, was severely injured on September 27. While traveling on an electric scooter, Ashlyn Gwynn and her teammate were hit by a box truck near the intersection of Yorba Linda Boulevard and Association Road, as reported by the Fullerton Police Department. Authorities stated that the accident occurred when both women were traveling southbound in the second lane of Association Road. Both individuals were urgently transported to a medical facility with severe health concerns. Turner passed away on Friday, November 7, while Gwynn is still undergoing recovery at a rehab center in Houston. The CSUF athletics department released a statement honoring Turner as “the most humorous, charming, and affectionate teammate one could hope for.” A candlelight vigil is scheduled for Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Titan Stadium to commemorate her life and legacy.
