(Phoenix, AZ) Early Thursday morning on January 1, a woman suffered critical injuries in a hit-and-run on 43rd Avenue near the Phoenix-Glendale border. Officers and firefighters arrived shortly after 1 a.m. to the intersection of 43rd Avenue and San Miguel Avenue, located south of Bethany Home Road. They discovered a woman who was riding an electric scooter at the time she was hit by a vehicle. First responders rushed her to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said the driver fled the scene. Glendale police subsequently found the suspected vehicle in the vicinity and took the driver into custody. Phoenix police took the man into custody and believe impairment contributed to the crash. The investigation is ongoing. Analysis of the 43rd Avenue Hit-and-Run.
