Willows, CA (April 8, 2026) – Multiple collisions involving two semi-trucks and a passenger car took place early Wednesday morning on northbound Interstate 5 near the Willows Rest Area. The first crash happened just after 5:30 a.m. when a driver reportedly glanced away from the road briefly and collided with the back of a big rig in front. The collision disabled the vehicle in the slow lane and damaged its electrical system, leaving it without working lights. The driver got out of the vehicle and moved to the shoulder for safety. Moments later, a second big rig in the same lane failed to spot the unlit vehicle and collided with it. The second collision inflicted further damage and left the big rig obstructing the slow lane. All involved parties exited safely, with no injuries reported. Officials are still probing the reason behind the crashes, with further information to be shared as it emerges.
