A traffic collision was reported at about 3:26 p.m. Aug. 29 on westbound State Route 78 at Interstate 5 in the Oceanside area of California. The California Highway Patrol classified the incident as involving unknown injuries.
The initial dispatch did not identify the number or types of vehicles involved. It also did not report an ambulance, fire response, or any trapped occupants.
A CHP update at about 4:50 p.m. stated that all vehicles were on the right shoulder. The available information did not indicate that travel lanes were blocked or that the highway was closed.
