Victorville, CA (March 31, 2026) – A man sustained severe burns Monday evening when a fire erupted near a shopping center on Amargosa Road in Victorville. The incident was reported at approximately 7:30 p.m. On March 30 in the vicinity of the Dunia Plaza shopping center. Video footage from a witness captured flames erupting near an electrical box amid surrounding bushes, adjacent to a shopping district. A driver who passed by alerted authorities after spotting a man engulfed in flames and screaming for assistance, leading to an emergency response at the location. A number of bystanders tried to help before emergency crews got there, including deploying a fire extinguisher to douse the fire. The man endured severe burns in the incident. An air ambulance touched down in a field near two large retail outlets, transporting the victim to a local hospital for care. Emergency responders cordoned off the area with caution tape as they operated at the site. Officials have yet to determine the fire’s origin, and it’s still unknown if additional factors played a role in the incident. Authorities are ongoing in their probe into the blaze’s cause, with further information to be shared as it emerges. Our thoughts go out to the injured man while he gets medical treatment.
