Valley Springs, CA (January 15, 2026) – Emergency personnel from Calaveras County responded to a two-vehicle crash on the 5000 block of Carey Rd Wednesday evening, which caused multiple injuries. The incident took place around 6:22 p.m. On a residential section of Carey Road, witnesses said two cars collided head-on near a curve, resulting in severe front-end damage to both vehicles. One vehicle ended up partially in a ditch, while the other obstructed one traffic lane. Firefighters and EMS personnel arrived promptly at the scene to treat multiple injured people. Multiple injuries were reported, with at least one individual taken to a nearby hospital for additional assessment and care. Officials have yet to disclose further information on the victims or the severity of their injuries. Traffic in the vicinity was briefly disrupted while emergency responders aided the victims and removed the debris. Tow trucks arrived within an hour to clear the damaged vehicles, and the road was reopened later that evening. Investigators are still examining the crash’s cause, including potential factors like visibility or driver distraction. No charges or citations have been issued yet.
