A traffic collision involving two vehicles was reported at about 3:40 p.m. Aug. 17, 2026, on southbound I-280 near the Meridian Avenue off-ramp. The California Highway Patrol classified the incident as a collision with unknown injuries.
The crash location was described as southbound I-280 just north of Meridian Avenue. The dispatch information did not identify the vehicle makes, models or colors.
A later CHP update stated that both vehicles had moved to the center divider. The update indicates the vehicles were no longer in their original positions on the freeway.
The incident was handled through the CHP San Jose area field service patrol. No additional information about injuries, medical treatment or traffic-lane closures was provided in the dispatch record.
