Accidents with large commercial trucks tend to be particularly hazardous because of the vast differences in size and weight compared to passenger cars. On congested highways, one collision with a semi-truck can set off a rapid chain reaction that involves multiple nearby vehicles in just seconds. Crash investigators analyze each vehicle’s speed, lane maneuvers, braking distances, and the drivers’ actions both before and after the initial impact.
