(Los Angeles, CA) On Thursday afternoon, February 5, at least three people died and several others were hurt after a vehicle slammed into a grocery store during a crash on Westwood Boulevard. Los Angeles Fire Department teams arrived shortly after noon at the 99 Ranch Market located at 1350 South Westwood Boulevard. Officials reported that a silver sedan veered off the road, onto the sidewalk, and crashed through the market’s glass windows, stopping inside the bakery section. Three individuals died at the scene, with at least six others taken to hospitals for care. Fire officials noted that two of the injured had critical injuries, while the rest received treatment for minor ones. Officials reported that multiple victims seemed to have been trapped under the vehicle until rescue teams could extract them. Los Angeles Police Department and fire officials characterized the incident as an accidental traffic collision, with no evidence of intentional action. Investigators noted that the driver, an elderly woman, initially hit a bicyclist roughly a block away before the vehicle proceeded to the store. Authorities did not disclose the bicyclist’s condition. According to police, the driver stayed at the scene, and no arrests were reported by authorities. A major emergency response shut down a section of Westwood Boulevard for hours as crews operated inside the building. The deceased victims were named Deris Renjo, 42, a 55-year-old man, and a 30-year-old man.
