Temecula, CA (January 19, 2026) – At least one person was injured in an early Monday morning crash on southbound Interstate 15 near the Temecula South (SR-79) exit, where smoke was seen rising from an involved vehicle, per the California Highway Patrol. The incident was initially reported at about 1:50 a.m. It involved a black sedan that crashed into the center divider. Shortly after the collision, witnesses observed thick smoke coming from the vehicle. A female passenger was reported to be experiencing pain, with a male at the scene observed trying to help her exit the vehicle. Emergency responders, including Cal Fire Riverside units and medics, arrived quickly. Paramedics were sent to evaluate and care for the injured, while Inland Valley Medical Center was alerted to accept at least one patient from the incident. Traffic was disrupted as emergency units operated across several lanes and in the center median to handle the scene and mitigate any possible fire risks. Diamond Valley Towing handled the coordination of towing services for vehicle removal. The complete details of injuries have not been disclosed yet, and the incident is still under investigation.
