A traffic collision was reported at about 3:56 p.m. Sept. 19 on southbound Sterling Road just north of Niles. The California Highway Patrol classified the incident as a collision with no injuries reported.
The reported location was in the 1300 block of Sterling Road, on the southbound side of the roadway. CHP identified the incident within its Bakersfield-area jurisdiction.
A dispatch update issued at 3:58 p.m. stated that the owner of a dog involved in the incident was 97 years old. The available information did not provide further details about the dog or the circumstances of the collision.
CHP dispatch information did not identify the vehicles involved, report any lane closures or roadway blockage, or list a request for ambulance, fire or towing assistance. No additional injury information was included in the available updates.
