A traffic collision was reported at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, on southbound State Route 86 near 86th Avenue and the County Line. The incident was handled through the California Highway Patrol’s Indio area, and an ambulance was reported en route.
By 3:56 p.m., CHP dispatch reported that a CAL FIRE airship was expected to arrive within eight to 10 minutes. The aircraft response was associated with the collision, although CHP did not provide information about injuries.
Southbound lanes were scheduled to be shut down for the airship’s arrival. The dispatch did not specify how many lanes would be closed or how long the shutdown would last.
CHP did not provide additional details about the vehicles involved, the exact cause of the collision, or the final condition of the roadway. The reported location was southbound State Route 86 near 86th Avenue at the County Line in California.
