How Crashes Involving Hazardous Material Vehicles Are Typically Reviewed. When a crash involves a tanker or hazardous materials vehicle, investigators typically examine the vehicle’s motion and road conditions at the moment of impact. This aids in determining how the collision happened and if lane positioning was a factor. Particular focus is placed on the type of materials being transported. For fuel or gas incidents, containment and spill response protocols are usually included in the comprehensive evaluation. The extent of injuries is frequently affected by the size and mass of the commercial vehicles involved.
