Santa Barbara, CA (February 21, 2026) – A bicyclist suffered serious injuries after a truck hit them Friday afternoon in the 300 block of Castillo Street near Montecito Street. The crash took place around 2:42 p.m. This led to a road closure and emergency response. Initial reports stated that a pedestrian had been struck near West Montecito St, opposite JJ’s Liquor and Wine. Officials later verified that the crash involved a truck striking a bicyclist. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, and the injured motorcyclist was taken to Cottage Hospital with serious injuries. The truck driver stayed at the scene and was not under the influence, officials said. Castillo Street between Montecito Street and Highway 101 was closed while crews conducted an investigation in the area. Traffic was rerouted as the roadway stayed shut down.
