San Ramon, CA (May 6, 2026) – A young e-bike rider sustained injuries after a car hit them on Tuesday evening, May 5, at the Crow Canyon Road and Tahiti Drive intersection in San Ramon. The incident was reported at approximately 6:54 p.m. Emergency services arrived at the scene and gave medical treatment to the young rider, who suffered a fracture. The child was subsequently taken by ambulance to an Oakland hospital for additional care. No information has been disclosed about the involved driver, and the cause of the crash remains unknown. Traffic in the area could have been temporarily disrupted as crews operated at the scene. Our thoughts are with the injured child during their recovery. What Risks Are Associated With E-Bike Use in Urban Intersections? E-bike riders frequently share roadways with automobiles, particularly at intersections where traffic converges from multiple directions. In these locations, drivers and riders face a higher crash risk if they can’t see each other clearly. Speed disparities between e-bikes and vehicles can also impact reaction times. A cyclist may enter an intersection as a motorist is turning or moving through it, leading to a possible conflict. Visibility is crucial, especially at night.
