San Marcos, CA (April 22, 2026) – A 78-year-old bicyclist died Tuesday afternoon, April 21, following a crash with an SUV in the 1900 block of West San Marcos Boulevard. Emergency responders arrived at the scene around 12:11 p.m. following reports of a collision between a cyclist and a vehicle. When they arrived, they discovered the man in the westbound lanes after the crash with a white Lexus SUV. Life-saving measures were attempted on-site, but the cyclist was declared dead around 12:26 p.m. His identity has not been disclosed yet. The SUV driver stayed at the scene and cooperated fully, with no confirmed details yet on potential contributing factors. Officials are still investigating the crash’s cause, and additional information will be shared as it emerges. We extend our sympathies to the victim’s family.
