San Luis Obispo, CA (December 18, 2025) – According to the city’s police department, a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle early Wednesday morning near the intersection of Santa Rosa Street and Montalban Street in San Luis Obispo. The crash happened around 6:15 a.m. On December 17, in the northbound lanes of Santa Rosa Street near Santa Rosa Park. Police and emergency medical personnel arrived to discover the pedestrian unresponsive. The person was declared dead on site. Investigators observed a Toyota with apparent front-end damage halted in the center turn lane where the incident occurred. Police secured the scene and started gathering evidence to ascertain the precise events causing the crash. Consequently, the investigation led to the closure of northbound Santa Rosa Street from Olive Street to Murray Avenue for multiple hours. Traffic heading south was limited to one lane. All lanes were back open by about 12:10 p.m. Officials have not disclosed the victim’s identity, and the probe into the crash’s cause is still underway.
