San Leandro, CA (January 19, 2026) – The California Highway Patrol reports that a hit-and-run crash on northbound Interstate 880 just south of Marina Blvd early Monday morning around 2:50 a.m. injured at least one person. A gray sedan exhibiting front-end damage and a dangling bumper was found on the roadside. The driver complained of neck pain and asked for emergency medical help. The crash was subsequently reclassified as a hit-and-run involving injuries. CHP officers arrived at the scene, and paramedics were sent Code 2 to aid the victim. Meanwhile, the suspect’s vehicle allegedly sped away, leaving the freeway and proceeding along city streets. Officials suggested the vehicle might have been moving toward a neighborhood, prompting Oakland Police to help track down the driver. Another patrol later found the vehicle parked with its lights off near E 14th St and E 20th St, leading to additional investigation. The crash is still being actively probed, and the fleeing driver’s identity hasn’t been disclosed. We wish a complete and speedy recovery to the injured person and encourage anyone with details on the incident to reach out to local authorities.
