San Jose, CA (January 28, 2026) – A bus rider suffered a head injury on Monday when the vehicle came to a sudden halt to avoid crashing into a car that allegedly blew through a stop sign at the North 11th St and Mission St intersection. The event unfolded as a silver Infiniti reportedly disregarded the stop sign and almost T-boned the bus. The bus driver, operating Transit 6673, had to slam on the brakes to prevent the collision. Although there was no collision between the two vehicles, the abrupt stop caused a female passenger, thought to be in her fifties, to hit her head on a pole in the ADA seating section. Emergency medical services responded to the scene. The woman sustained a noticeable bump on her head, with no bleeding observed. She stayed conscious and alert while awaiting paramedics. Transit authorities verified the site as the far side of Mission Street at North 11th Street. Medical personnel were heading there to evaluate the passenger’s condition and decide if transport to a hospital was required. An inquiry into the close-call incident continues. Authorities are also trying to identify the driver of the silver Infiniti who fled the scene after failing to stop at the stop sign. We send our best wishes to the injured passenger and hope for a full and speedy recovery.
