San Jose, CA (January 17, 2026) – A major motorcycle accident on State Route 87 in San Jose Friday night injured at least one person severely. The crash happened around 5:45 p.m. According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred on the northbound side of the highway, just north of the Curtner Avenue on-ramp. San Jose Fire Department emergency crews arrived at the scene and found two involved vehicles—a gray sedan and a sports motorcycle. Emergency responders assisted the injured victims, verifying that at least one person suffered serious injuries in the accident. The individual was taken to a nearby hospital for additional medical care. Given the incident’s severity, CHP officials temporarily closed the Nos. The northbound SR-87 1 and 2 lanes remained closed while emergency crews secured the area and carried out a preliminary investigation. Officials haven’t disclosed additional details about the crash’s cause or if any tickets were given. The CHP is still examining the details of the collision.
