In San Diego’s Morena neighborhood, a 35-year-old man died on December 4 after a car collision on Pacific Highway. The San Diego Police Department reported that the fatal accident took place at approximately 4 a.m. close to 4850 Pacific Highway, just south of Friars Road. Authorities discovered that a pedestrian was standing in the road. Simultaneously, a 30-year-old female operator of a 2024 Honda Civic endeavored to veer to the right, unfortunately colliding with a man and a stationary Toyota Prius. The casualty was rushed to a proximate medical center, where he was declared lifeless by the attending physicians. His name has not been revealed yet as they are waiting to inform the family. Authorities reported that no one in the Prius was injured. They encourage anyone with details about the accident to reach out to the SDPD Traffic Division. Here is an overview of the crash on the Pacific Highway. When a pedestrian death happens, investigators review various important traffic laws to establish who is at fault. The Pedestrian Roadway Law states that pedestrians crossing outside of a crosswalk must give way to vehicles, yet drivers are still required to take care to prevent accidents whenever they can. The Basic Speed Law requires drivers to travel at speeds that are appropriate for the current conditions, such as lighting and visibility.
