San Diego, CA (February 2, 2026) – A severe motorcycle crash in San Diego hospitalized a man Sunday afternoon with life-changing injuries. The incident took place at approximately 1:24 p.m. Near West Arbor Drive, the incident prompted a swift emergency response owing to its seriousness. Reports state that a 41-year-old man riding a motorcycle was hit on the right side by a sedan traveling at about 20 miles per hour. The impact inflicted a traumatic injury on the rider’s right leg, leading to a severe amputation just above the ankle. Police officers who arrived before paramedics applied a tourniquet to stop severe bleeding until EMS took over. Upon the arrival of emergency medical services, the man was conscious and responsive as he received urgent care. Paramedics swiftly stabilized him, set up IV access, controlled his pain, and readied him for transport. His condition was deemed critical because of the severe injuries from the crash. The injured motorcyclist was taken to UCSD Hillcrest for advanced trauma treatment. Authorities are still investigating the incident to uncover the events that caused the collision.
