San Diego, CA (January 30, 2026) – Emergency radio reports state that a 28-year-old male pedestrian suffered serious injuries Wednesday evening when a vehicle veered off the roadway on Wall St in La Jolla and struck him. The incident took place around 8:45 p.m. On January 28, as the man was doing landscaping work alongside the busy street. According to witness reports relayed via medical dispatch, the vehicle driver seemed to black out prior to veering off the road and hitting the pedestrian. The collision propelled the man over a wall and roughly 15 feet down an embankment. Even though the crash was violent, the victim stayed conscious and could remember the event. He suffered a severe fracture of the tibia and fibula in his ankle, accompanied by facial pain and a nosebleed that was under control. Medics on scene reported no signs of internal injuries. San Diego Fire-Rescue crews from Engine 41 and Medic 41 stabilized the man and transported him to Scripps La Jolla Hospital as a major trauma patient. He received treatment for severe pain and stayed stable while being transported. Officials are probing the crash’s cause, including any potential medical issues or impairments that led to the driver losing control.
