San Diego, CA (May 16, 2026) – A 37-year-old man sustained life-threatening injuries in a hit-and-run crash early Friday morning in San Diego’s Midway District. According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 12:40 a.m. on May 15. near the junction of Camino Del Rio West and Kurtz Street. Investigators reported that the pedestrian was walking westbound near the southern crosswalk when an unidentified vehicle heading south on Camino Del Rio West drove into the intersection and hit him. The driver then left the scene. Emergency services rushed the man by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for a fractured pelvis and a brain bleed. Officials called his injuries life-threatening. Police reported that they currently have no description of the suspect vehicle or its driver.
