After a highway crash, debris from damaged vehicles can quickly spread across multiple lanes. This may include broken parts, glass, or fluids that make driving unsafe until the roadway is cleared.. Even when vehicles are moved out of traffic lanes, debris can still force partial closures. Cleanup often takes time because crews must ensure the road is safe for drivers before reopening all lanes.. Traffic volume also affects how long delays last. On busy routes like I-805, even a short closure in one lane can lead to backups that take time to ease once traffic begins moving again.
