San Diego, CA (January 23, 2026) – A California Highway Patrol motor officer was injured in a solo crash on a rain-slicked freeway near Frost Street in San Diego early Friday. The crash took place just after midnight, at approximately 12:24 a.m. , which prompted a quick response from fellow CHP officers and emergency medical personnel. The officer reportedly experienced rib and hand pain from the crash. He was taken to a local hospital for assessment and care. At the time, weather conditions were wet, potentially contributing to the single-vehicle crash. Officers on scene secured the area and provided initial aid until paramedics arrived. Traffic on the affected freeway corridor was briefly disrupted while crews secured the area and removed hazards. The precise cause of the crash remains under investigation. No other vehicles were involved, and additional updates on the officer’s recovery will be provided as more information emerges. We offer our best wishes to the injured officer and hope for a swift and complete recovery.
