San Diego, CA (May 1, 2026) – A 29-year-old man was killed Thursday night following a collision with a transit bus in downtown San Diego. The incident took place at approximately 9:50 p.m. In the 300 block of West B Street in the Core Columbia neighborhood, emergency units responded to reports of a man struck by a bus. Investigators report that the man was lying near the north curb when a San Diego Metropolitan Transit System bus pulled up nearby. For still-unknown reasons, he extended part of his body into the roadway as the bus was about to pull away from the curb. As the bus drove off, it crushed his lower legs, inflicting fatal injuries. He was declared dead on-site, with his identity still unreleased. No further information on the circumstances of the incident has been provided. Nevertheless, officials are still probing the cause of the crash, with additional details to be shared as they emerge. We offer our deepest sympathies to the family of the victim.
