(San Diego, CA) On Saturday night, January 24, a passenger sustained serious injuries in a violent crash on 43183th Street caused by a speeding driver that also involved other vehicles. The San Diego Police Department reported the incident happened around 8:15 p.m. at the corner of 15th Street and F Street. Police at the scene discovered several damaged vehicles and a severely disrupted intersection after the crash. Authorities reported that a westbound Kia Optima, driven by a 20-year-old man, was traveling at high speed on F Street. At some point, it sideswiped a Subaru Forester traveling south on 15th Street as it crossed the intersection. Following the initial collision, the Kia kept moving and hit a stationary Ford F-150 pickup truck, which was shoved into a parked Toyota Corolla. Authorities report that a passenger in the Subaru sustained severe injuries, such as a brain hemorrhage and a torn diaphragm. Emergency medical personnel administered care to the injured passenger and took them to a hospital for further treatment. Authorities did not disclose the passenger’s name or current status. The 20-year-old Kia driver was arrested on-site for suspected DUI. The authorities withheld the driver’s identity.
