San Bernardino County, CA (May 12, 2026) – One person died after a multi-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck and a pickup truck early Sunday morning on southbound Interstate 15 near mile marker 15. Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after 6:52 a.m. following reports of a serious collision between a red pickup truck and a semi-truck. Initial reports suggested the vehicles crashed in the middle of the road, scattering debris across several lanes. One of the vehicles was said to have veered off the roadway following the collision. Officials have verified that the crash resulted in at least one fatality. No further information has been released regarding any other potential injuries. Multiple lanes were impacted during the response, with traffic control measures implemented as crews worked to secure the scene and remove debris from the roadway. Investigators also noted damage to the road, including reported hits to the guardrails. The name of the person who died has not been made public yet. Officials are still looking into what caused the crash, and additional information will be shared as soon as it is available. We offer our deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased. What Happens When Semi-Trucks Are Involved in Highway Collisions? Accidents with semi-trucks frequently cause major traffic disruptions because of the vehicles’ large size and heavy weight.
