Salinas, CA (March 17, 2026) – A bicyclist died after being hit by several vehicles on Sunday, March 15, on Davis Road in Salinas. The incident took place near Central Avenue, resulting in a several-hour road closure. Reports state that the woman, dressed in dark clothing, was riding south on Davis Road. A truck heading in the same direction collided with her, and two more vehicles struck the bicyclist soon after the first impact. The Monterey County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 63-year-old Linda Theresse Munoz of Salinas. No additional injuries were reported from the crash, and all involved drivers stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Officials are still probing the cause of the incident, with further information to be shared as it emerges. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the deceased’s family. How Visibility and Road Conditions Affect Bicycle Safety. Bicycle accidents frequently happen in conditions of poor visibility, particularly in the early morning, evening, or at night. Wearing dark clothing makes it more difficult for drivers to spot cyclists, especially on poorly lit roads or those lacking dedicated bike lanes. Road design also impacts safety. Regions with elevated traffic speeds or narrow shoulders heighten the danger of severe accidents. Drivers and cyclists must pay extra attention at intersections and shared roadways to prevent conflicts. Cyclists can enhance their road visibility by wearing reflective gear, lights, and bright clothing.
