Salinas, CA (September 25, 2025) – On Thursday morning, a collision between two vehicles, which included a small child, took place on northbound US-101 close to Spence Rd. This incident resulted in a medical response and caused traffic disruptions in the vicinity. The accident was initially reported around 7:39 a.m. which included a dark blue Mercedes-Benz car and a silver GMC Sierra truck. The California Highway Patrol reported that the accident occurred close to the acceleration lane right before the Spence Rd exit. One vehicle is said to have swerved across several lanes after missing its exit, resulting in a crash with another vehicle. Further reports suggested that a semi-truck might have been merging into traffic when the collision happened, possibly hitting the passenger side of one of the cars involved. At the moment of the accident, a woman and a baby were present inside the Mercedes. While there were no injuries reported as life-threatening, paramedics checked both individuals as a safety measure because a child was in the car. The GMC truck driver also mentioned injuries and was evaluated at the location. Towing services were called for both vehicles, with a precautionary removal of the Mercedes. While emergency personnel were clearing the debris and looking into the incident, two lanes were still operational. Traffic was temporarily congested during the morning commute while emergency responders managed the situation. We send our best wishes to those injured, particularly the child, and wish for their complete recovery.
