Why Hit-and-Run Crashes in Urban Areas Can Lead to Serious Injuries. Urban intersections like 20th St and P St often see steady late-night traffic, especially in entertainment and residential districts. Crashes at these locations can involve multiple occupants due to rideshares, carpools, or group travel.. Ejection from a vehicle significantly increases the risk of serious injury. Seat belt use plays a major role in preventing occupants from being thrown from a vehicle during impact.. When a driver flees the scene, it complicates the investigation and can delay answers for victims and their families. Hit-and-run cases in busy city areas often rely on witness statements, nearby surveillance cameras, and physical evidence to identify the suspect vehicle and driver.
