Sacramento, CA (April 1, 2026) – Firefighters rescued an elderly woman from a blaze in a South Sacramento residence. The fire was reported at approximately 1:34 a.m. on April 1, a Wednesday, in the 8900 block of Leland Avenue. Emergency responders arrived on scene following reports of a house fire at the address. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered intense flames throughout the residence. They were informed that an elderly woman remained inside the residence. Emergency personnel searched the structure and rescued the woman from the back of the house. She was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care. Authorities noted that the homeowner reported the smoke alarms sounding as the fire started. The alarms led to attempts to evacuate another resident from the home. The woman’s current condition has not been disclosed. Officials are still probing the origin of the fire, with further information to be shared once it comes to light.
