Motorcycle hit-and-run collisions tend to be particularly severe, as riders have virtually no protection in a crash. A motorcyclist can sustain injuries from impacts with other vehicles, the road surface itself, or surrounding roadside dangers. On-ramps and off-ramps heighten the hazard, as cars may be merging, decelerating, or switching lanes within a confined space.
