Sacramento, CA (March 14, 2026) – One person was killed in a late Friday night crash involving a semi-truck in Sacramento. The incident occurred around 10:51 p.m. On Friday, March 13, on westbound West Elkhorn Boulevard at East Commerce Way. According to reports, a Volvo semi-truck car hauler and a passenger vehicle were involved in the crash. Emergency responders arrived at the scene soon after. Traffic lanes in the vicinity were shut down while crews handled the situation and aided those affected. Authorities verified that at least one fatality occurred due to the crash. Officials have not disclosed the victim’s identity or shared additional information on any other potential individuals involved. Meanwhile, investigators are still looking into what caused the crash, and additional details will be shared as soon as they’re available. We offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased. Why Semi-Truck Crashes Can Be So Severe. Accidents with semi-trucks frequently result in severe consequences because of the significant size and weight disparity between big rigs and passenger cars. A fully loaded truck weighs several times more than a typical car. Due to this greater weight, trucks need more distance to decelerate or come to a stop.
