Sacramento, CA (January 28, 2026) – Two juveniles suffered injuries Tuesday afternoon when a vehicle struck them while they were biking near Westlake Charter School on Mabry Drive in Sacramento, per emergency communications. The crash happened around 4:00 p.m. Right outside the school. Officials verified that the children were in a bike-related traffic accident, with at least one suffering a severe leg injury. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, with firefighters close behind. One child was evaluated for a potentially serious leg injury, and the other sustained only minor scrapes. The school nurse treated both individuals at the scene, and no immediate medical transport was needed according to the report. Sacramento Police Department officers arrived to provide assistance and launch an investigation into the crash circumstances. It is unclear if the driver stayed at the scene or if any tickets were given. The event highlights persistent worries about student safety in school zones at dismissal time. Our thoughts go out to the injured children and their families, and we wish them a quick and complete recovery.
