(Chula Vista, CA) Officials have named both the victim and a suspect in a deadly hit-and-run crash on North Greensview Drive that took place Sunday evening, January 11. The Chula Vista Police Department stated that officers arrived at the scene around 5:30 p.m. to the North Greensview Drive and Park Meadows Road area. Upon arriving at the scene, police discovered 70-year-old Ruizhi You lying on the roadway. Officers concluded that she had been hit by a vehicle that fled the scene. Paramedics took her to a hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Investigators did not immediately disclose details about You’s position in the roadway during the collision. After the crash, detectives canvassed the neighborhood, interviewed residents, and examined available video footage. Two days later, investigators found the suspect vehicle linked to the crash. Authorities took Monica Armenta, 46, into custody just after 5 p.m. On Tuesday at a secret spot in Chula Vista. Police booked her into the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.
