Highway 65 near Roseville handles heavy traffic, where motorcyclists encounter distinct hazards on fast-moving roads featuring center guardrails and constant lane shifting. Guardrail collisions are especially hazardous for motorcyclists due to the minimal structural protection provided by bikes compared to enclosed cars. Injuries to arms and legs are among the most frequent results of motorcycle accidents, particularly when riders are ejected or slide across the pavement. In recent years, tourniquets used at the scene have gained wider acceptance as a first-response tool, with early application helping to reduce blood loss prior to hospital treatment. California highway riders are legally required to wear helmets, but limb protective gear is still optional. Protective gear like armored jackets and gloves can greatly lessen the seriousness of motorcycle crash injuries.
