Riverside, California (November 14, 2025) – A man lost his life on Wednesday evening following an encounter with a Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) bus at the intersection of Chicago Avenue and 12th Street, as reported by the Riverside Police Department. The unfortunate event transpired at approximately 4:20 p.m. Upon arrival to the scene of a pedestrian being struck close to a bus stop, the officers quickly took action. Upon their arrival, they discovered the man to be in a critically injured state and immediately requested the assistance of emergency medical services. He was taken to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately passed away due to his wounds. The initial investigation suggests that the man had exited the sidewalk and stood in front of the bus when it started moving away from the stop. The collision was unavoidable for the driver, causing the bus to stop in the southbound lanes of Chicago Avenue. Officials have stated that the RTA bus driver stayed at the scene and is assisting with the investigation. Our thoughts are with the victim’s family as they cope with this tragedy.
